Events

Homes or Habitats? Geography KS3

A planning application has been made to build houses on the Gressenhall farm site. Your students must decide what is to be done. They take part in activities on both the farm and museum site, asking a local environmentalist, museum curator, the farmer and the housing developer questions and conclude by debating the development of the site at a planning enquiry. Will they back homes or habitats?

This day will help students explore environmental solutions to the housing crisis and look at how climate change will impact how we build in the future.

Full day, £6 per student

Dates available by request. Please contact us and we will try to accommodate you

Was the Workhouse so Bad?

Explore Victorian attitudes to poverty, morality and social responsibility in this active history investigation. Students interact with costumed characters representing different views of the workhouse. They look at the workhouse buildings and use historical documents to make up their own minds. The programme provides evidence for students to write up a coursework assignment.

Dates available by request. Please contact us and we will try to accommodate you.

Full day, £6 per child

Victorian Whodunit?

Find out about Victorian moral attitudes and place the workhouse in its historic context through this dramatic Whodunit? A poor female inmate has been murdered in the workhouse. Students meet costumed characters and help discover who committed the terrible crime. This engaging day is a perfect support for the study of spoken English.

Dates available by request. Please contact us and we will try to accommodate you.

Full day, £6 per child
