About The Common: A pop-up exhibition by Sinead Marray-Woods

Sinead Marray-Woods is a Norfolk-based mixed media textile artist. She presents 'The Common', a sensory immersive pop-up installation, displayed as part of Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse's summer holiday theme, 'Noticing Nature'.
The work uses materials sourced from waste and recycled textiles. From the tent fabric outer shell to the stuffing in the beanbags, made from the past year's worth of the artist's own textile waste, Sinead strives to minimise her footprint on the world. Sustainability is not just a choice but a way of life for the artist.
Using mossy colour palettes and natural forms, her work reflects the natural world around us, particularly the North Norfolk coast and surrounding countryside. Using textiles as her medium, she seeks to break down the barriers between art and audience. Her tactile installation invites audiences to enter 'The Common' where they can find a place to sit and interact with the environment around them, sharing her enjoyment of art with others through interaction.
'Commoning - because commons are not a thing but an action and therefore a verb - is always an expression of compassion, coexistence and love.'
"I create the world in my head,
My safe space,
A common for all"
Visit this pop-up display in the Workhouse Chapel from 26 July - 10 August 2025.
